Aloha everyone,
Last weekend, August 14–15, we held our first Pā Restoration Workdays—a milestone the Palehua Lands family has looked forward to for many years.
Despite Tropical Storm Lala, we came together to learn, connect, and help preserve this important site for future generations.
A heartfelt mahalo to Tim and the UH archaeology team, Ivan, our community and neighbors, and especially all our volunteers. Your time, energy, knowledge, and stories made these first two days possible.
There is still much work ahead, and we look forward to continuing this journey together. We hope to see you at our next restoration workday!

Original Event Details:
Preserving history. Building community. Honoring culture.
The word "Pa" means 'wall' or 'enclosure'. These words objectively describe the walled feature at Palehua, 510 mts (1600 feet) above sea level in the southern end of the Wai'anae Mountains on Oahu.
The Pa is an enclosure where people come together for cultural exchange, storytelling, ceremonies, and connection.
RESTORATION & TRAINING
We are reconstructing the Pã walls using traditional dry-stack (no mortar) techniques. Volunteers will receive hands-on training in dry-stack stone walling and learn about the history, culture, and stewardship of the site.
WORK TOGETHER
This is a community project. When we work together, we can protect our heritage and ensure this special place for future generations.
